Today certainly has been an interesting day so far in Rocky Top. I would dare say it may have even started last night with the sudden and controversial departure of our head football, Lane Kiffin, and the civil disorder that followed. The topic was the only buzz around town today; almost every conversation began with “can you believe it?”, or other not so kind remarks. Even my teachers managed to tease about the situation in two out of three classes, with not much success may I add.
However, beyond all the drama with UT athletics recently, it was good to see the campus busting with activity, and to see my friends again. A nice sunny, blue sky made Syllabus Day (those fun, ridiculously slow first classes spent going over a syllabus) much more bearable.
I was in such an upbeat mood today, that I finally made it back to the gym. It was quite the painful experience though, as I got an even better picture of how out-of-shape I have become, but the motivation is there to change that. Wish me luck!
